This guide will help you find a business idea that is perfect for you, your skills, and your budget.
What Business Should I Start With Little Money: Having little money to start your business is no longer an excuse not to make your entrepreneurial dreams happen. While it used to be the case that you needed a hefty chunk of change in order to get started.
What Business Should I Start With Little Money?
You can now do so with little or even no capital. With some innovative thinking and creativity, you can probably come up with 100 businesses you can start with little money (or even none at all). Here are ten ideas to get you started.
1) Become a virtual assistant
Most people have to get a job because they need money to live. When you start your own business, you’re able to control your time, set your schedule, and choose who you work with. Becoming a virtual assistant is an easy business idea that can make you money right away and enable you to make a living while working from home. For instance, if you want to travel but don’t have enough money.
Starting a business as a virtual assistant may be just what you need. You can find great clients by doing some research on companies in industries related to tourism or travel, such as hotels or airlines. You could also advertise your services on sites like Fiverr, Freelancer, or Upwork. You’ll still need to do some marketing even when you become a virtual assistant so that you can build up a steady stream of clients over time.
2) Get paid to take online surveys
Paid surveys are a great way to get in front of people who have already expressed interest in your services or products. While you’ll probably make more money with other online business ideas, paid surveys can be a helpful addition to your repertoire. If you don’t want to pay for online surveys, there are several online survey sites that give you free options so you can test out different things and figure out what works best for you before launching your own survey site.

Freelance writing (short articles, blogs) – $250 per month: The next one is freelance writing jobs on Upwork, oDesk, Freelancer, Guru, etc… There are plenty of small businesses looking for someone to write short articles and blogs about various topics including e-commerce websites looking for product descriptions.
Personal blogs looking for guest posts, health websites looking for fitness content, and many others! The hourly rate varies from $5 per hour to even $20 per hour depending on how much work you can provide.
3) Sell on eBay or amazon
If you’re brand new to making money, but have some extra time on your hands and aren’t afraid of a little hard work, there are ways to make money that won’t necessarily involve starting your own business. One great option is to sell items from websites like eBay or Amazon. These marketplaces already have millions of users, so simply creating an account and uploading images of your products will likely net you some sales quickly.
You’ll need to put in some work selling items at first (you can expect to spend a few hours each week), but once things get rolling, it could become a substantial part-time income. Just be sure to read up on how these sites operate and what they take in terms of fees if you decide to go down that route. The same goes for any other marketplace where people buy and sell their goods—just do your research before diving in headfirst.
If selling online isn’t really your thing, consider becoming a virtual assistant instead. Virtual assistants perform administrative tasks over email, phone, or chat—things like scheduling appointments, answering questions about products or services they offer, researching data for clients’ projects—and generally just helping out wherever they’re needed most.
4) Join direct sales companies
Starting a business that relies on direct sales can be a great way to make money with little or no startup cost. Direct sales companies like The Pampered Chef, Rodan + Fields, and Scentsy hire consultants who work from home selling their products to people in their community. Once you’ve got your business established, you’ll be able to keep earning money while you sleep!
Check out our guide on How to Make Money as a Direct Sales Consultant for more information. (For related reading, see: Can You Really Make Six Figures Selling Lip Balm?) But which direct sales company should you start with? These days there are thousands of choices across every industry imaginable—from beauty products to kitchenware—and new businesses are popping up all over the world. If you’re thinking about joining one of these companies.
Here are five things you should consider first: 1) What kind of product will my customers want? 2) What kind of support will I get when I need it? 3) Will my customers have access to my product at competitive prices? 4) How much money do they make in commissions each year, and how much do they spend sponsoring new recruits like me? 5) Is it easy for me to get started right away without a ton of costs or delays?
5) Create an informational website
It’s easy to take for granted how much we love search engines. But what if you could use them to earn money from home? What if you could create an informational website that helps people find exactly what they need when they need it most and collects a share of every sale made by your site as a result? Well, guess what—you can! The truth is, there are many different ways to make money online.
And informational websites are one of them. Plus, with Google’s quality score algorithm in place—wherein high-ranking results are rewarded based on content quality—there has never been a better time to create an information site. 6) Turn your hobbies into a business
You don’t need a ton of money to start a business. If you have a skill or hobby that is valuable, then it may be time to make money from that passion. Making money from your hobbies can help you stay true to yourself and be your own boss while also having fun and being creative.
Before you get started, do some research on other people who made their hobbies into businesses. A great way to get started is by talking with others who are doing what you want to do and gathering advice. Do some research before you start so that you don’t waste time trying to start something that has been done already!
7) Drive for Uber or Lyft
For people who own their own car, driving for a ride-hailing app like Uber or Lyft might be a good part-time gig. You’ll get to meet new people and make some money along the way. Driving in rush hour traffic, though, can be tiresome and stressful.
If you need something to help keep you entertained while being stuck in a car on gridlock freeways, try an audiobook from one of these services or go old school with a book on tape. To maximize your earnings, check out our tips for getting more rides per hour.
While social media doesn’t always have a direct impact on sales, it can help you build relationships with customers and generate buzz about your brand—both of which are critical to success. Most small businesses hire someone to manage their social media accounts—but it doesn’t have to be an in-house employee.
You can hire a freelancer for a couple of hundred dollars per month and give them responsibility for your brand’s various platforms. The best part is that it only takes one person to do all of your social media management (at least at first). Just make sure you check their work before sharing anything live!
9) Start selling on Etsy or craft fairs
Many entrepreneurs who are just starting out lack both capital and access to distribution channels. If you want to build a business, selling on Etsy or another marketplace where you can get your product in front of an audience (without having to invest in physical inventory) is often a great way to start. In fact, it’s how I started my online store in 2015! My shop was a little Etsy storefront that sold items like macrame bracelets and framed art prints.
To sell items on Etsy, you first have to apply for an account and then there’s a three-step process of applying, being approved, and getting set up as a seller (that whole process took me about five minutes). Once that’s done though, you can start selling right away.
10) Offer services from home (cleaning, pet sitting, handyman, etc.)
Providing services from home is a viable and lucrative option for a small business. While you might not end up making your entire living from working from home, there’s an argument to be made that starting a small business in your pajamas is easier than ever. The key is to find something that people need and will actually pay for.
If you need some inspiration, check out websites like TaskRabbit or Fiverr or maybe even become a virtual assistant (find clients on Upwork). Just make sure that if you decide to start working with people face-to-face, you have liability insurance because no one wants to be responsible for someone else’s broken leg.

Conclusion
Each of these businesses can be started with little or no money. However, start-up money isn’t all you need. You also need an Internet connection and a product to sell. We suggest adding affiliate marketing to your skillset so that you can make money from what you’re doing anyway.
Searching for information on Google, Amazon, Twitter, and Facebook. You also want to find products that have an affiliate program built-in because it is a great way to make passive income, which means not having to work as hard to bring in revenue once your initial costs are paid off.
